L-Glutamine is a nonessential amino acid that is to be synthesized in the body from other amino acids such as valine， isoleucine or glutamic acid， however is considered an essential semi-"conditional essential amino acid" or longer that under some conditions (. stress， trauma， infection， intense training， etc.) consumption exceeds its synthesis: the body demand so much Glutamine that this is not able to synthesize it in sufficient quantity. Glutamine supplementation promotes protein synthesis and muscle catabolism prevents oxidative stress situations. The guideline to follow for proper supplementation with glutamine is: - an intake of 5-10 g fasted for the first week - the second and third week， a second dose of 5 to 10 g were taken 90 minutes after the workout - From the third week， another extra dose of 5 grams shall be taken before bedtime. 1 gram of glutamine is usually recommended per 10 kg body weight.
